It can be very frustrating for the person who can think but cannot speak out loud to be in need of medical help. Often speech is lost due to injury or other condition such as a tracheotomy, a ventilator, a stroke or autism, and a way to communicate in a hurry is needed. Point-and-talk communication help in medical situations A nonverbal person can point to individual letters as another person watches and records what is typed. They can also point to preprinted words on the backside of the board in answer to medical questions or to ask questions of their own such as, "Where am I?" The Medical Buddy Board™ has a 1-10 pain scale as well as the same QWERTY keyboard as used on computers. The backside has 44 often-used words and phrases in medical situations. This side aids in situations when typing out all the letters is difficult and allows the patient to quickly answer questions such as: Who should we contact? What allergies to medications do you have if any? How are you feeling now? How long have you been feeling poorly? Is it a sharp or dull pain? This is just a sample of the many questions that could be answered using this board. There are four blank spaces, intentionally left open for your use.
